Don't laugh. This is, in fact, an important question. If we don't know what it is, we surely won't be able to "do" it! Let's discuss this vitally important topic, since, contrary to the opinion of many, it is NOT optional! In Christ, Matthew (soulfyre)

Let's discuss this vitally important topic, since, contrary to the opinion of many, it is NOT optional! Good question ... but probably a term that means more than one thing to different people. So you'll get different correct answers depending on who you ask. Very generically .... (lots of stuff implied in here that needs to be fleshed out): Purposefully communicating the gospel - whether by words or deeds. But, that of course - all depeds on how you define 'the gospel' ... not to mention what I mean by 'purposefully'. Don't really have time to fill all that in right now ... but I will hopefully get to it. I always really liked the definition of "successful evangelism" I heard as a teen while on a missions trip one summer: Successful evangelism is taking the initiative to share the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results up to God.

I'll broaden mpethe's nice summary with something very simple that seems to escape many Christians as falling under the term "evangelism". Speak to your pastor and ask when the next evangelistic sermon will be. Then ask an unbelieving friend, or a person whose salvation you're not quite sure about, if he/she would like to come to church with you that Sunday. If schedules work out for a different one, that's fine. If they say "yes" for a different Sunday then God simply has some purpose in mind by using a different sermon is all... My $.02 Ron

I'd like to hear from people on the question:
What is the Gospel?
Often my pastor will talk about how we've unfortunately tried to boil it down to something like 'the four spiritual laws', but that it's a lot more than that.
Do you agree - is it more than that?
Is it less?
thanks, mpethe

Indeed Kenny, Good news! My children understand it best in this way.
Jesus is perfect, and I am not. That is why I need Him to get to heaven.
Jesus willingly received the penalty for the sins of His children, and in exchange gives them His perfect righteousness.
