If any of you have not seen The Notebook, with Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, James Garner, Gene Rowlands, and James Marsden, then you have missed a very powerful (and a three or four hankee) movie. All right, so it's probably a chick-flick. But "youse guys" will not be disappointed in this movie. The acting is superb, the plot is engaging, and the ending...well, I won't dissapoint you by telling you any more than the twist at the ending is not telegraphed at all. Yes, emotionally this movie will turn you every which way but loose. But I think that you will find the plot very apt to our discussion of dating and marriage. I hope that you will let me know what you think of this movie once you have seen it. But be prepared. It took me awhile to collect myself at the end of the movie, and I was, for the first time, comforted by the fact that the credits took awhile to roll. God bless and keep you, Matthew (soulfyre)

You know, sometimes it's wonderful being a "chick"! We can see chick-flicks and cry in movies all day long and nobody notices or cares. It's great being a girl!!!!
I've been debating on this movie for a while, but now I'll have to add it to my queue on NetFlix!

WOW! What a powerful movie! It's been a long time since I had a down-and-out sob fest over a movie (I know, too much information) I have to admit that I saw some of the plot coming, but the end, well, that took me by surprise. However, I can't think of a more perfect way to end the story. One thing I'd like to comment on is what a wonderful job they did with the editing, particularly with the sex scenes. On the DVD there are alternate versions that are much more, um, intense. I think the decision to keep the movie PG-13 was wise. The more graphic scenes would have cheapened the movie, at least in my eyes. Thanks for the recommendation on this one Matthew, I think this one is worth buying for those rainy days when there's nothing to do. Melinda
