Nothing exciting to say... I was born in Salem, OR in 1971, graduated from Tigard High School in Tigard, OR (just outside of Portland) in 1989. Tried college, but to make a long story short I dropped out of Boise State where I was going and came back to Portland. I went to Portland State for a quarter, but met a guy who had been a 98G (Signals Intelligence Specialist) in the Army and I was very interested. I had already seen a recruiter, but hadn't pursued it. I loved languages and jumped at the opportunity to get paid to learn one. So I joined the Army. Met my wonderful wife of 11 years at the Defense Language Institute and got married there. Spent a few years in Germany and I got a nice Bosnian vacation out of the deal. ;D We got out and settled in Portland. Been here since we got out of the Army in Dec. 1997 doing work as an I/S guy. Go to a Reformed Baptist church called Glencullen Baptist here in town. Don't have any formal education in the faith, just a larger book collection than is healthy and perhaps an overly aggressive desire to learn all I can from my Lord and Savior's Word. Ron

So glad to have you join us! I will be looking forward to getting to know you better. God bless and keep you and yours this season, as we pause to wonder at the immeasurable grace and mercy of God, who, in giving His Son for us, gave us to him to be his glorious bride... Matthew (souflyre)

RGrove, God bless you my brother. I can imagine that in your "unhealthier than usual" book collection, you may have some volumes with the wisdom of Spurgeon. He also was a reformed Baptist theologically, and couldn't be dull if he tried. Keep reading and likewise inspire the rest of us to do the same. We all need to "grow in the grace AND KNOWLEDGE of the Lord Jesus Christ." May God bless you richly as you do so. I will look forward to hearing more from you in the days ahead.

It wouldn't be complete without him, brother! He has almost an entire shelf to himself. ;D I must say, if anyone reading this hasn't read an evangelistic sermon by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, you're missing out on a feast! So far, the only one I get the same kind of satisfaction from reading sermons is Robert Murray M'Cheyne. I love reading sermons by the greats of the past. It's truly humbling to see some of the astonishing ability God has given some men in preaching. Spurgeon being one of the finest examples of a man God truly raised up to expound His Word to the people. In Christ, Ron
