Way back in February I signed the papers to have a new home built and finally, they are pouring the foundation today! Tomorrow they will begin framing and everything will begin to take shape. Friday evening I've invited many of my friends over to the new house. I've asked everyone to bring a Bible verse to write on the studs of the house. I was just thinking that I would like to include all of my friends here on the board. If you will reply to this thread with whatever verse you would choose if you were here, I'll either print it out and staple it to a stud, or write it in your name. You are all having a profound effect on the construction of my spiritual foundation and I would love to have you all be a part of the foundation of my home as well. If you're interested in seeing the progress, it's all on my .mac blogWish you could all be here, Melinda

I saw the pictures there yesterday actually. Congratulations! ;D Hmmmm... If it can be a very short passage then for such a wonderful thing as starting a new home then I would choose the Shema: Deut 6:4-9 " Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." If you prefer one verse then I'll have to think a little more on it. There are a lot of them to choose from! Yours In Christ, Ron

I wanted to put the ten commandments on our doorposts, but my wife won't let me... At least now it might actually make it onto a doorpost somewhere else! ;D Yours In Christ, Ron

That's a great idea! Start at the bottom and work my way up and over!

Congratulations, Melinda! Let me think awhile on this. Meanwhile, I just can't seem to get the idea of a lovely Christian woman surrounded by a bunch of Biblical "studs". Do forgive me! God bless your home and all that dwell therein. Matthew (soulfyre)

I hate to put pressure on anyone who might want to add to my "Biblical Studs" but there is a good chance that Tuesday will be one of the last days I'll be able to write on the studs. As soon as the electrical lines have been run, they will begin hanging sheet-rock and my Biblical Studs will be forever covered. I'll also be leaving next Wednesday morning to visit my parents in Arkansas, so there is a good chance I may come home to covered walls. You'll find the pictures of my existing Biblical Studs on my blogOn a sad note, there is a house being built directly behind ours that was almost complete when vandals went in one night and hauled off all of the Kitchen cabinets and countertops. Yours in Christ, Melinda

I spoke to my builder yesterday and they have begun insulating the walls. I'll meet with him on Tuesday morning to make sure everything is right, and then they'll finally begin hanging the sheetrock. So this weekend will be the last chance I have to add scripture to my "Biblical Studs" By the way, here is Ron's: In Christ, Melinda

A friend of a friend carved a scripture into her garage floor. Got a chisel? Melinda

My wife likes it too! And she doesn't remember shooting me down on the ten commandments idea, so maybe I can get them around here subtly someplace after all. Hehehe. We generally can't actually see our garage floor (it's a mess!) so that's probably not possible for a while at least. That' just funny. Yours In Christ, Ron

well, the next time you paint a room in your house, you could always write on the walls and then paint over it. Of course that means an extra coat of Kilz....
