This article by Uwe Siemon-Netto, religious-affairs editor and senior writer for United Press International, is thought provoking as it brings up what I consider to be a serious deficiency for most evangelical Christians. We find ourselves unprepared to confront a secular culture that assails our Christian beliefs because of the shallowness of our own understanding of Christianity, being uninformed of history, and, specifically, church history. This appears to be particularly true of evangelicals from the United States. I noticed this embarassing state of affairs when I studied at L'Abri. In many ways, I also was hopelessly uninformed in comparison to students from Europe or Latin America, and some of my arguments were hopelessly naive and uninformed. What do you all think of this challenging article? The Triune God bless and keep you, Matthew (soulfyre)
