Well...I am at an impasse with Pat Robertson. For about the past 16 years, I had no idea who he was, and if I had heard his name (which I do not recall), I would have most likely thought he was some political figure. Now, however, Pat Robertson has gone too far. He tells the people of Dover that they have voted God out of their city? That they should not call on God? What do you all think of Pat Robertson's most recent remarks? Or of him and his theology in general?

Not sure what he said this time, but he has made a habit of putting his foot in his mouth for many years now. At one time we had a fair degree of respect for him. But he's forfeited that respect many times over now. We haven't watched his program in four of five years now so the only time we hear about him is when he's on the news for saying something that makes you just shake your head in amazement. The last one was that the U.S. should assassinate the President of Venezuela. An ordained minister of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, promoting assassinations?!?!? I think he should retire and not say anything in public any longer, that's what I think...

One can only hope that God will give him the grace to retire and the wisdom to control his tongue, about which James warns us so eloquently...and do so soon. His latest remark was, I believe, concerning the failure of the people of Dover to allow the teaching of Intelligent Design in their public schools. I disagree with Dover's position, but do not believe that Pat Robertson's words were apt or timely. Alas, that this has become more common among those the media turns to as "representatives" of evangelical Christianity. But then, I'm sure that is why the media seeks Pat Robertson off-the-cuff comments. Alas, how difficult it is to control what we say, to be winsome, and to give everyone an answer about the hope that we have. In Christ, Matthew (soulfyre)

I'm afraid Pat Robertson might be doing more to tear the Kingdom down than he is to build it up.
Yours in Christ,
