Woo-Hoo! It's official, through the grace of God, there is a contract on my house! I'm currently in a 10-day option period which means that they will continue to show my house, but for the most part, it's a done deal. I am still amazed by the way God can orchestrate even the smallest details of our lives, if we let Him.
There was a point about a week ago when I struggled with a small crisis of faith over the fact my new house would be completed soon and the old house hadn't sold yet. It isn't so much that I doubted God, it had more to do with doubting my ability to discern His will for me. I was worried that I had misunderstood God's will and done what I wanted, rather than what He wanted. After much prayer and some time spent discussing my fears with my friend Julie, I realized that His will would be done and that even if the deal on the new house fell through, it would be for my own good. It was at this point that I was able to relax and await God's timing.
When my buyer finally came, I was totally blind-sided. At this point there was a family that appeared to be very serious about the house; I was getting good feedback from their realtor and they had visited the house twice. Convinced that they were "my buyers," I was anxiously waiting for word of an offer when I got a call requesting a showing. That evening as the realtor was walking up the sidewalk to the house, I put the dogs out and drove over to the new house. I was gone about ten minutes and when I returned, the realtor had already left. 'Well,' I thought to myself, 'looks like they weren't interested," and promptly forgot about it.
The next day, I was checking the website where I get realtor feedback and found a wonderful surprise. The ten-minute showing the night before had left this feedback:
"Client likes this house the best of all that we have seen. Should write a contract today or tomorrow."
I almost fell over in shock! That was on Tuesday, the offer came in late on Wednesday, I counter-offered and my buyer accepted on Thursday. As I went over the details with my realtor, it became apparent that this was a gift from God. I will have my final walk-through with my builder on August 23rd. My buyer closes on his house August 24th. We close on the sale of my old house on August 25th and then I will close on the new house August 26th. There is no way I could have hoped for more than this, and I certainly could not have arranged it.
Thank you Lord for blessing me yet again in ways more generous than I ever dreamed of. You are awesome in your power and continue to shower me with your love; for that, I give thanks to you.
