I am in the middle of writing an article for an organisation I volunteer for. The article is supposed to help answer questions parents may have about Christian Rock music. So, if you could please share any and all questions your parents may have asked, or questions you think they would ask, or if you are a parent, questions you would ask--any and everything will help. Thanks!
Be blessed, Alejandro

Sorry, afraid our first is only still on the way and I haven't paid much attention to the Christian music scene outside of noticing that it looks like it's coming into it's own these days. There's a lot of it in the Christian Supply stores around here. I'm a little odd in that I really don't listen to music at all...

I don't have questions about Christian music although I'd like to point out that there is no such thing as "Christian Music." Music on it's own, though it might have a holy feel to it, could be written in tribute to Satan and no one would have to know besides the composer. It is through lyrics that music becomes "Christian" and, hopefully, uplifting. About 90% of what I listen to these days is from our local Christian radio station KLTY. I know that a lot of the music would be called sub-standard by most people, but the lyrics are uplifting and I am able to hear the love the artists have for the Lord. Though this has nothing to do with Christian music, I'd like to mention that I prefer this station because I never have to worry about my nine-year old hearing anything inappropriate. They go to great lengths, especially in their newscasts, to make sure that children aren't exposed to material that could be traumatizing. For example, when a newstory reports a death, it is usally presented that someone "is no longer with us," or "has passed-away." Team that with positive, uplifting music and radio station choice, for me, becomes a no-brainer. In Christ, Melinda

I've heard that the quality of the music is getting a lot better. As I said, I don't really listen, but I have friends that do and they say that there's getting to be a lot more quality talent in the Christian music industry. In any case, I'm glad to have Christian stations around as well. We have one here and it's always head and shoulders above the rest like yours is. Just the other day I was sitting next to a car that had it's radio on extremely loud playing the most vile rap lyrics you could ever have the displeasure of hearing and I certainly couldn't imagine being a mom sitting there with her son hearing that. Talk about uncomfortable situations. I couldn't wait for the light to turn green...

Yep, I know exactly what you mean. There have been many times that others have been treating me to their music, whether I want to hear or not, and I have all but cringed at the disgusting lyrics. Fortunately most of these lyrics go over my son's head, but that won't last for much longer.
